Mouse in the House

Would you could you with a MOUSE!

I would not, could not with a mouse, but apparently I AM!

Not the proudest moments, but we have caught three mice. We thought we were done, since our fourth trap only caught crickets, spiders and dust. Weeks later one has returned. If mice creep you out, STOP READING NOW! This is one creepy mouse...I hope ONE! Of course he, yep I know it is a he, had to wait until I was the only brave soul home. David can't do roaches, that is where I come in. I don't do mice, especially when they are so comfortable in your own home. I would be awake either on the phone or the computer and he would come out. Like we are buds. I guess I look so loving or he is that fearless. I didn't have a trap for a week. I set out some contact paper for a few nights in the kitchen. Only problem is it is hard for me to see too, oops! Unfortunately it is not sticky enough to trap the little guy. I was close two nights ago. I had a large sheet in the kitchen with two smaller ones by possible escape and entrance routes for this mouse. I also left out the old trap with other findings in the kitchen just in case. The next morning I had to rub my eyes several times to believe what I saw. The large sheet, which he had to cross to get into the kitchen, was untouched (except by myself...I bounced a ball on it, goofball!). One small sheet untouched. Here is the interesting part, one of the two parts: the mouse trap was a foot from where I put it, upside down, leaning against the cabinet with the other small sheet of contact paper on it. Fighter! Well, then I look across the kitchen near the oven. Gross!!! This is where I rubbed and rubbed my eyes and was afraid to get too close. There was fur and skin patches on the floor, yuk! I took a sheet of contact paper to clean it up, blah! Where is David!?

Next night he is out "vacuuming" under our kitchen table while I was awake. I didn't have the mangled trap anymore and hadn't bought anymore. Instead of just laying the contact paper down, I sealed some entrances off at the dishwasher. Not much else. The next morning, no mouse, only signs! I notice he attempted to get into my bread. I had moved it, where I thought he couldn't get it. Still trying to find a container. Luckily it was still difficult for him to get into it. Then I found more fur/skin patches in the same locations. Seriously, what is that all about, remains a mystery.

Of course David is getting a kick out of this and I even was hoping to get the little mouse on the web cam. Conveniently, he didn't come out while I was on the phone with David. As soon as I hung up, he comes pitter-pattering right toward me. I looked at him and he ran off. Then, while I was sitting here typing, he runs under the desk (Thus the reason I have had my feet up on my chair the entire time.). I didn't see him, just heard him, then I spotted him. I got the camera out and videoed some of his hiding spots and the ball he was playing with. I caught him on camera a couple of times. Showboat! The first time I was startled, you would only be able to see him in instant, but slow, replay. It is over four minutes, so I haven't decided how to post the long and large file!

So far I have two traps out and no catches. I am sure it doesn't help to have a light shining directly on one of them. Hey, I don't want to be here in the dark with the mouse. He is probably very hungry. I vacuumed thoroughly food and whatever remains he has left in the past. He has whatever is under the oven and miscellaneous crumbs in the kitchen. I am not comfortable going under there to clean just yet. He really creeps me out!

This is strictly for pure entertainment. There is no need to worry about me. I am a little uncomfortable sharing my home with this little guy. Unfortunately, an animal might be harmed in this addition of our wonderland!

Amanda-Put your bread in the fridge. If he can get in there, you might as well just charge him rent!

I did, but didn't like the taste. I moved it to our pantry for now. It was on our microwave. He hasn't touched it there yet. I wouldn't be surprised. We might go back to the fridge anyhow and charge rent!
