One Dollar Dress

My kiddos love when I sew for them.  I really can't keep up with their demands.  Kennedy is always asking if what I am sewing is a skirt or dress for her.  I really need to sew more dresses and skirts for Taylin.  Her side of the closet is lacking, especially compared to Kennedy's.

Kennedy had a two time hand-me-down shirt.  It was cute, but a slight stain. It was also a little awkward by itself.  Vests aren't in style.  I guess if Phoenix allowed for layering, I could have come up with something.  Well, it isn't.  So, sew!

I picked up a few pillowcases at the dollar store a few months ago with intentions of using them for some sewing project. I know the quality isn't top, but sometimes a quick project and a smile on my daughter's face makes a dollar fabric go a long way. So this is what I did for a dollar and odds & ends I had around the house.

Cut off stained part/bottom half of shirt.
Didn't bother to pick out seems.  I just cut off the long seems of the pillow case (the only seems, I guess).
Hem on the bottom.  Gathered the back.  I only did side pleats or gathers on the front and let the top of the joined pillow case tell its own story ;)  Attach to bodice.  Add a trim (I wasn't very smart at how I did that.  I was using scrap.  It was a dollar total, so I didn't stress.) and a ribbon flower.  Tada!
Kennedy, "Can I wear it to bed?"  Me,"Nope, you can wear it to church on Sunday."  Yes it is a dollar and a sleep in it wouldn't be devastating.  It is already a wrinkly fabric.  I like it though.  I guess she was feeling for it's original purpose of sleeping.
She is a happy girl for $1 and some repurposing!
I had fun too!
