Through Cohen's Eyes

I had a special afternoon with Cohen in his classroom.  The kids and their teacher, Mrs. Marcus, celebrated mothers with Mother's Day Tea.  They had tablecloths spread across the tables, sweet creations at their seats and plates for treats.  They sang a sweet song for us and then shared their creations.  He made a clay face of himself.  I loved his details.  He pointed to the cheeks and said, "Look, I made dimples."  He hasn't always been so proud to share a smile to show them off.  I think he has started to realize they are a part of who he is and is willing to share a grin with accents.  I also loved the book he wrote (fill in the blank).  Through his eyes, here is his story, "My Mother":

This is my mom (illustration drawn).
She has brown hair and brown eyes.
She is 11 feet tall and weighs 9009 pounds.
My mom likes to cutol (cuddle) with me.
My mom is happy when I Sae (say) I Love You.
My mom's favorite TV show is the Noss (news).
My mom is very smart.  She knows all about soeing (sewing) her cloos (clothes) for us.
My mom likes to eat sallid (salad).
It really bugs my mom when theyr (there) is a fly buz(z)ing.
If my mom could have one wish come true, it would be A baby Puppy.  (He drew a cute picture of a puppy.  The tail was wagging and he showed it in the drawing with a vertical line with arrows on each end.)
My mom is special because she tucols (tucks) me in! (The printed book had a period, but he added a line to make it an exclamation mark.)

Always interesting to see what they see and understand.  I am glad he knows how special those moments are together.  My favorite time is bedtime too.  I could cuddle and read to them for hours.  I can't say getting to that point is always "easy peasy," but once dressed and ready for bed...I love it.  Love these precious kiddos! I am honored to be called Mother by them.
