David's Week of Staycation

David had a week off this past week.  Unfortunately the rest of us were still in full swing.  Some of this week's happenings (no particular order and not all desired moments...just some of our daily adventures that were not such a big deal, because we had two parents to face the challenge and time ;) ):
  •  David went to lunch and recess with Taylin and Cohen.  Right now the kids just love it and are far from embarrassed.   He gets all kinds of insight from their classmates.  He quickly finds out who the best buddies are, who is a little rowdy, etc.  He really enjoys recess with the kiddos.  He is a big kid out there (not that much bigger ;) ).  Their friends think he is cool.  David noticed a few of the boys  from Taylin's class were always by his side.  The two of them had Dad's that were far away.  David enjoyed being their pal for the moment.  They both seemed to think so too.
  • Car oil changes, turned into even more "routine" maintenance.  It was nice to have him here to do the drop offs and not worry about if the kids were asleep or not.  Our wallet didn't appreciate it, but we feel comfortable in our well functioning vehicles.
  • Date night to improv and Gelato Spot.  I surprised David.
  • Mowed lawn.
  • Temple trip
  • I went to the grocery store and Jo Ann's solo.
  • David completed a case report that he hopes to be published soon.
  • We went running together with the two little ones in the jogging stroller.  We saw some fun Halloween decor along the route.
  • Dinners were less stressful and all together at a decent hour.
  • Movies watched.
  • David was able to play basketball this week.  By Friday he was a bit sore after all the exercise and physical activity.
  • Missionaries over for dinner
  • 1/4 of a tube of toothpaste smeared and tasted by two year old who was thought to be sleeping.
  • Pumpkin carved.  Seeds roasted and consumed!
  • Catch and batting at the park.
  • The two little ones trying to figure out the skateboard.
  • Teague's first time with a babysitter by himself.  He did good, but wasn't completely comfortable with the idea of being the only Galloway at times.
  • A whipping cream extravaganza in the boys room.  I thought the giggling between Teague and Kennedy was so sweet, until I found out the entertainment was provided by a can of that cream.  Sticky mess.
  • Lots of sleeping in.
  • New battery for David's phone so it wouldn't die by lunch time :)
  • Service project at an elementary school: moving rocks, digging with shovels and pick axe, moving rocks back.
  • Teague face planted into a bush.
  • Kids' primary program.  A classmate of Cohen's came to church to watch him.  So sweet!
  • A box of goodies from Ecuador and Houston.  Chocolate and banana chips, yum!  Many other fun shirts and goodies.
  • Tried on Halloween costumes.  I finished most of the costumes.
  • Watched a scary movie with David.  He was quite entertaining to watch.  It was a bit creepy.
  • The kids dancing to "Rio."  That is a fantastic movie.  We loved it!
  • Hiked a mountain to look over the city one evening.
  • Slurpee's from Circle K.
  • Great news of the arrival of our nephew/cousin, Chance Alexander Cotten.  Big 10 pound boy!
  • Not having to say goodbye to Dad and wonder when he would be home.
  • Tree climbing
All kinds of fun and memories.  I think David has some pictures from his phone.  I will try to post them as soon as I can.  Mostly simple time together, but quality time.  We were more patient, relaxed and laughed a lot together!  Regardless of the adventures, it was fun times!
