Happy Halloween 2011

Cohen asked, "Will we always have Halloween?"  We hope so!  Any excuse to dress up, play games and get candy.  Worth keeping around.
The Littles

Taylin: Princess Bee with a Beehive Do ;)  (Bought two years ago for Kennedy to wear last year.  As you can see the sizes are a little off as it fits our almost 8 year old.)

Cohen: Anakin...braid and all (made from top to bottom.  Even the boots.  If you are ever thinking about making your own costume boots, you can do it.  Just remember to leave a seam allowance on the back...or use elastic.  Our Garden themed family portrait.  Every garden has them: gnomes, a bee, a frog, an occasional tooth fairy flying over to care for the children inside, and Anakin taking care of things from up above in the stars' light.  So we can't get away with themes anymore.  We try, but Cohen always wants to be a superhero or specific character of his own liking.  I think Taylin will always want to be a fairy or princess of some sort.  Kennedy is random and loves the hand-me down costumes just fine.  This year she really wanted to be a tooth fairy.  I think it was with the excitement of two siblings getting visits from their tooth fairies: Twinkle and Topper.  We found a few items at a consignment shop and then crafted a few other items.  We also borrowed a toothbrush wand from our dentist.  So fun!  She is a cutie!  Most of us have already planned what we are going to be next year (*sigh* I don't really want to think about it right now...unless it is on super post Halloween discount in the next few days).  Teague goes with the flow, sort of.  He was excited to put on the frog costume when we got them all out of the box.  It took some persuasion each time we dressed up.  I bought the frog two years ago as well, in hopes for his costume last year.

The first time we dressed up (5/6 of us) was for the kids' school parties and parade.   Yes, their school still does it.  So fun!  Teague carried his costume.  I wasn't sure if I should dress up to go to the kids' school.  Last year I just wore a simple black dress and sported a witch hat.  The kids really wanted me to wear my costume.  After wondering what the adults might think, I remembered a) I will be moving in 7 months and they will forget my craziness quickly and b) my kiddos wanted me to.  I will while they don't get embarrassed.  Plus, I wanted to wear it as much as I could after the time put into it.  As soon as I put my hat on Teague proclaimed, "I like Daddy."  He would repeat that a few times and then say, "I don't like you."  :(  After the party I took my hat off and he said he liked me again.  Good thing I wasn't anything frightening.  We all had fun!  They played bingo, decorated cookies or cupcakes, bowled ghosts and more!

We carved our pumpkin a little too early again this year.  A ghost.  It looked great, but blackened  quickly, bleck!  We also have an ongoing project to make Halloween cookies.  We have the dough ready for Candy Corn cookies from http://www.ourbestbites.com/.  I will bake them tomorrow.

On Saturday we went to David's work party.  They had the family time from 6-8PM and then 8PM those without kids would party it up.  After we drove 45 minutes to get there.  The only other residents there were the host with her cute dog and one other family who lives 5 minutes from us.  She had planned fun games.  Luckily we both had four kids each, so we all had fun.

No, he is not a Smurf.  David is Gnomeo.  He was mistaken a few times.  I understand not knowing who Gnomeo and Juliet are, but he would be a lame Smurf.  Look at those cute boys!  Love them!

Here we are: Gnomeo and Juliet.  David was less than thrilled.  He sure fakes it well.  I think we are switching every other year who picks our couple costume.  Last year he chose Ghostbusters.  I really wanted Cohen to be Gnomeo.  That was quickly vetoed as Star Wars came into play.  It was fun!
Now what to do with a Juliet costume.  Please borrow it.  I thought I would use the skirt for the girls or something.  After the work and how it turned out, I am not so sure I want to take it apart.  Anyone want to be a Renaissance Minnie Mouse ;) or a gnome?  The hats apparently should be pointier, but I was going with the pics.  I also looked at other costume ideas and probably got it all mixed up.  Anywho, I think we get it!
Pin the nose on the jack-o-lantern.  Taylin thought he might want a tooth.
Umm, limbo!
 Get down Anakin!

Kennedy the Tooth Fairy has been mummified.  Mummy races, turned to just turn them into mummies until they have had enough and make a pile of toilet paper.  Good times!  Anakin and Captain hook go mummy.
Anakin and Princess Bee Mummies
There was also a pumpkin pinata.  I loved it!  Watching them was so fun.  My friend got a good picture of Teague.  He had a great stance!  On Monday, we enjoyed a Trunk-or-Treat at our church building.  The older two made a few rounds.  The younger two made one round and retired to our trunk to taste test ;)

I think we are all Halloweened out.  My house thinks so!  So off to rest we go for a new day to regroup and start a wonderful month of remembering our blessings!  I feel blessed.  What a fun family I have!  Such good sports.  We are all off to bed except for our busy little tooth fairy ;)

 Happy Halloween!
